Every Nine Weeks students are required to read and pass four AR tests on chapter books.
For the Fourth nine week period, (through May 15), your child will be required to read 4 chapter books within their reading range. Their reading range is in their AR folders.
Besides their library books, I have some AR books in the classroom that they may read and checkout to read at home over the weekends.
These extra books should make it easier for your child to meet their AR goal. Please encourage your child to read for meaning. Sometimes the small details are very important, and AR tests their recollection of many such details. Remind them that once they fail a test on a book, they can’t ever retake it. It’s better to spend a little more time on each book, and score well, than to speed through the book and fail the test. They’ll then have to start all over with a new book.
